Health Guarantee – Golden Paw

At Golden Paw, the health and well-being of every puppy is our top priority. We stand behind the quality of our Golden Retrievers with the following health guarantee.

1. Congenital & Genetic Health Guarantee (2 Years)

We guarantee that your puppy will be free from life-altering congenital or hereditary defects that significantly affect quality of life for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase. This includes:

  • Hip Dysplasia (OFA Fair or better expected from parents)
  • Elbow Dysplasia
  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and other hereditary eye diseases
  • Subaortic Stenosis and other serious hereditary heart conditions
  • Other genetic conditions proven by veterinary diagnosis and DNA testing where applicable

2. Immediate Health Guarantee (14 Days)

Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good general health at the time of delivery/pickup. Within 14 days of receiving your puppy, if a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a serious congenital condition that was present at the time of sale, we will offer a replacement puppy of equal value (when available) or a refund of the purchase price at our discretion.

Buyer Responsibilities

To keep this guarantee valid, the new owner must:

  • Take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian for a full health check within 72 hours of arrival
  • Keep the puppy on a high-quality diet appropriate for large-breed puppies
  • Follow a proper vaccination and deworming schedule
  • Provide routine veterinary care and maintain records
  • Not breed the dog if it shows signs of genetic issues

Failure to meet these conditions may void the guarantee.

How to Make a Claim

If you believe a covered condition exists:

  1. Contact us immediately in writing (email preferred) with the puppy’s details.
  2. Provide a written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian, including supporting test results (X-rays, bloodwork, specialist reports, etc.).
  3. We may request a second opinion from a veterinarian of our choice.

Once verified, we will work with you in good faith to provide a fair resolution — typically a replacement puppy of comparable quality when available, or partial/full refund at our discretion.

What Is Not Covered

  • Injuries or illnesses caused by accidents, neglect, improper care, or environment
  • Parasites, viruses, or bacterial infections after the puppy leaves our care
  • Conditions that develop due to overweight, poor nutrition, or lack of exercise
  • Minor or cosmetic issues that do not significantly affect quality of life
  • Any condition that appears after the guarantee period has expired

Our Commitment

We breed with care, health-test our adult dogs, and raise our puppies in a clean, loving home environment. While no living animal can be guaranteed 100% free of future health issues, we take full responsibility for the genetic foundation we provide.

If you have any questions about this guarantee before purchasing, please contact us. We are happy to discuss it with you.
